Hunter Safety Offered On Campus

There will be a Hunter Safety Education Course held on campus February 19-21, 2007. Classes will meet from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., in Rooms 309/310. To register, contact Jenny Carver in the Natural Resources Division (828) 627-4560. Pre-registration is required for course enrollment. Attendance required for three consecutive evenings. Course is free of charge, there is no age limit and open to the general public.

The Hunter Education Course includes information about hunter responsibility, wildlife conservation and management, firearms, wildlife identification, survival and first aid, specialty hunting and tree stand safety. The course is a minimum of 10 hours and is accepted in every state and province in North America. All first-time license buyers must successfully complete a hunter education course before they can hunt in North Carolina or purchase a hunting license.

Additional hunter safety courses will be offered from August to December 2007 and boating safety and bow hunter safety courses will be offered as well. For more information on other events and services offered by the Wildlife Resources Division, visit:
