Haywood Geospatial Scores the Cover Shot in Area Paper!

The efforts of two Geospatial Technology instructors at HCC were highlighted in this week's Smoky Mountain News. Blair Bishop and Pete Kennedy have been collaborating with the Haywood Waterways Association, local developers, and other county officials to incorporate GIS and GPS technology into the planning process for residential development in the county.

In an attempt to combat erosion and runoff problems that plague waterways here in western North Carolina, Kennedy and Bishop are working with developers on appropriate layout of lots, houses, and roads and addressing a more front-end, environmentally friendly development approach.
