Haywood Recruiting at Sustainable Forestry Teacher's Academy

Forestry Instructor Jim Hamilton made a recruiting appearance at the 2007 Sustainable Forestry Teacher's Academy held in Asheville. The Academy is a four-day residential program, that focuses on the social, economic, and environmental aspects of sustainable forestry. It includes hands-on activities introducing teachers to forestry concepts. Teachers visit a variety of forests and mills learning about forest management and the manufacturing of various wood products such as paper, furniture, plywood and lumber.

Jim presented an overview of HCC's Natural Resources Division and highlighted the educational opportunities for students in natural resources fields and the experience students receive in Haywood's SAF recognized forestry program. Participants included 28 teachers from across North Carolina.
