HCC Awarded BioDiesel Grant

Haywood Community College was recently awarded $135,000 by the Biofuels Center of North Carolina for a grant project entitled Haywood County Biofuels PET* Project (Production, Education and Training).

Laura Leatherwood and Blair Bishop will serve as Co-PIs on this exciting project that will:
  1. provide alternative fuel supplies for campus and county diesel vehicles

  2. integrate biodiesel training into the college's existing Industrial and Automotive Systems Technology curricula and Continuing Education programs, and incorporate it into a proposed Sustainable Technology certificate program, to train members of the regional workforce in biofuels Technology

  3. increase local and regional awareness and public education of biofuels and biodiesel production.
