Pisgah Inn Service Project

Members of the Horticulture Practices class recently had the opportunity to install an ornamental garden in front of the Pisgah Inn (located along the Blue Ridge Parkway). Following a design developed by a fellow classmate, our students removed the existing plant material and rocks, and then installed new plants purchased from local nurseries. On the upper left you can see the existing garden prior to the renovation. Working individually or in small groups, everyone enthusiastically pitched in and did their part. Several of the existing plants were moved and planted in other areas. After nearly two hours of work the job was completed. The bottom right image shows the final results. Given a little water and time, everything should begin to fill in nicely by summer's end. Stop by the Pisgah end for lunch or dinner sometime soon and enjoy the new garden.
