Stop, Drop, and Tuck!

Students in Chris Graves' Forest Protection class finished off their end-of-semester wildland fire training with the NC Division of Forest Resources. 40-lb "packs" were strapped onto our HCC forestry sophomores and laps run to prove that they can physically handle the rigors of wildland firefighting. Students also practiced speed-deploying emergency fire shelters...a skill they'll hopefully never have to put to use on the job!

Ethan Matherly successfully deploys his fire shelter under the 25 second time limit.
