Biltmore Estates Tour

Twice a year students in the HCC horticulture program visit the Biltmore Estates in Asheville. Yesterday, George Thomas and Jim Hamilton took a group of students to tour and learn about their extensive conifer collection. Having recently studied conifers in their Plant Materials II class, these students were able to see firsthand many unusual and mature plants not found on the Haywood campus. Over the years, Biltmore Estates and Haywood Community College have formed a good two-way relationship. Biltmore gives our students an opportunity to study plant material in a landscape setting, while HCC is able to supply Biltmore with a steady source of trained horticulturists upon graduation. In fact, one of our tour guides was a recent graduate of our horticulture program.
