Horticulture Students Prepare for the Spring Plant Sale

Students in Greenhouse Production have been diligently planting seeds and transplanting seedlings.  A significant portion of the Greenhouse Production course content deals with bedding plant growth and scheduling.  Students gain hands-on experience in the production of many of the plants discussed in lecture while generating merchandise available to the public for purchase.  Any unsold plant material is utilized in campus plantings. Plants grown this semester include numerous annuals such as marigolds, petunias and zinnias, a variety of herbaceous perennials such as purple coneflowers and shasta daisies, and a large selection of peppers and heirloom tomato cultivars.  Some woody plants and many types of herbs will also be available for purchase.  The spring plant sale will be held on Friday, April 30th starting at 9:00.
