2010 Southeastern Wildlife Conclave

The Haywood Community College student chapter of The Wildlife Society (a.k.a. Wildlife Club) brought home many individual awards and a huge team award this year! This year’s wildlife conclave was hosted by Frostburg State University in Maryland. There were 18 universities and 2 technical colleges at this year’s annual competition. HCC placed 3rd overall, behind only the University of Georgia and the University of Tennessee! Sarah Miller placed 1st, and Melinda Bryant placed 2nd in painting. Billy LaGrange placed 3rd in color photography. Danielle Crocker placed 2nd in Free Form Art. Taryn Brown placed 2nd in drawing. And, Andrew Walker placed 1st in trail camera photography. It is safe to say that this year’s team had many talented individuals! Dustin Crawford placed 2nd with his elk call and 1st overall in turkey calling (the latter with non-vocal assistance from Clay Heafner). Sam Byars placed 3rd in goose calling. In addition to this, the obstacle course team, Aaron Bingham, Josh Locker, Daniel Lerner and John Michael McCormick, brought home the 1st place trophy in this exciting but hazardous event! Our Quiz Bowl team, Cory Walch, Sam Byars, Danielle Crocker and David Caldwell placed 4th overall in the Quiz Bowl competition. This is the highest scored event at conclave and definitely the most competitive. The students performed well in the many other various competitions, and all of their contributions helped secure the 3rd place trophy. Thank you for all of your support. Go Haywood!!!!!
