Horticulture in the News

Horticulture instructor George Thomas recently gave two presentations to the general public on shrubs and their uses in the landscape. Emphasis was given to native species and their usefulness in attracting wildlife. At the North Carolina Arboretum, he gave a short course on "Introduction to Landscape Shrubs" which included a walk around the grounds, highlighting many of their native specimens. The same subject was later presented to the Men's Garden Club of Asheville (an organization that generously provides scholarships to students in the horticulture program).
