Hemlocks Healed!

As part of their forest protection course, HCC forestry students treated eastern hemlock trees that had become infested with the hemlock woolly adelgid in The Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The eradication of these invasive pests was led by Frank Varoutis, HCC forest management technology alumni, and owner/operator of Hemlock Healers, INC. Mr. Varoutis’s company was recently awarded a contract to treat over 700 acres in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
