Spring 'Fire' Training

On March 2nd, 2011, Forestry students at Haywood Community College had a little hands on learning with a controlled burn at Dupont State Forest. Ranger David Brown, seen at the far left of the photo, is leading the Forest Fire Management class of freshmen and sophomores down the service road on the lookout for potential spot-overs. A new part time instructor, retired Forest Service FMO, Ronnie Carnes, is the fire instructor for the class and has 30 years experience with fire crews in the region and is actually a Haywood Community College graduate. Justin Kearse is the photographer and a current Forest Management student. (post by Bob Pinkston)

Wouldn't it be wonderful to help other people who are in need? It is good to know that there is a course such as fire warden training. The course provide participants with the knowledge, training and practical skills to effectively perform the role and responsibilities of Building Fire Warden.
