Pocket Wetland

Natural Resources students from LID, Horticulture and Fish and Wildlife participated in installing additional native plantings to enhance the existing pocket wetland on campus this afternoon. This stormwater Best Management Practice (BMP) slows and filters pollutants from runoff on campus. The pocket wetland was initially designed and installed by Environmental Biology students with assistance from LID student Vicki Eastland last spring as part of her capstone project. LID students worked on planting design as part of their coursework this semester, and funding for the installation was provided as part of a generous grant from the Pigeon River Fund to create stormwater BMP demonstration projects on campus.
